Today my patient had a fasting blood sugar of 3.5 mmol/l

I am so delighted for his progress; coming from 22 mmol/l (fasting blood sugar) with a non healing toe ulcer and hampered with lack of sufficient funds.

The ulcer is completely healed.

The success of this story is in him taking charge of his health; self monitoring of blood sugar, compliance with his meds, dietary adjustments ( increased focus on low glycemic foods intake).

Over the last 2 months, the progress he saw each day helped him to stay committed to the treatment plan.

we have successfully prevented a toe amputation and any other morbidity from diabetes.

Healthcare must be patient-centered to make sustainable impact.

Patients need to have an active role in their Healthcare.
